The Xiaomi Mi MIX is an entirely new smartphone in Xiaomi’s line-up of budget smartphones. Launched this morning alongside the Mi Note 2, relatively nothing was known of the Xiaomi Mi MIX prior to its launch, and I must give kudos to Xiaomi for keeping such a beautiful smartphone out of the prying eyes of the public all this while.

The Xiaomi Mi MIX sports a bezel-less design and has a 6.4-inch display with Full  HD (2040 * 1080) pixel resolution, 17:9 aspect ration, 500nits brightness, 1300:1 contrast ratio and 94% NTSC colour gamut. The device has an astonishing 91.3% screen-to-body-ratio, the body is designed with a ceramic material (like in the Mi 5s), it weighs 209 grammes and is just 7.9mm thick.

The Xiaomi Mi MIX is powered under the hood by a 64-bit quad-core Snapdragon 821 processor with a 2.3GHz clock speed and assistance from an Adreno 530 GPU. The SoC setup here is pretty much the same as what is on the Mi Note 2.

The Mi MIX comes with 4GB of DDR4 RAM and 128GB internal storage capacity. There is also a Xiaomi Mi MIX Special Edition (with 18k carat gold finish on the frame, rear camera & the fingerprint sensor)with 6GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage capacity. The default storage in both models can’t be expanded as they don’t come with microSD card slots.

The smartphone packs a 4400mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 technology which allows you to charge the device up to 83% in 30 minutes. It has a Dual Nano-SIM slot and supports 4G LTE (with VoLTE) network bands. A fingerprint sensor is present at the back of the device.
The Xiaomi Mi MIX sports a 16MP camera with dual-tone LED flash, PDAF and 4K video recording at the rear, while at the front there is a 5MP camera unit to handle selfies.

Xiaomi Mi MIX Availability and Price Details in Nigeria, Kenya & Ghana

The Xiaomi Mi MIX comes in Black colour only and would go on sale from the 4th of November. It’s already available for order in China, and its price in different countries are listed above.

WhatsApp’s impending support for video calling appears to be closer to launch. According to new reports, the feature is now functional in some of the beta builds of the Android application, following its recent arrival in the Windows Phone version of the Facebook-owned messaging app. The iOS app was also updated just last week, but video calling support was not included at that time.
The arrival of video calling on Android was first spotted by the blog Android Police, which found that some users on the beta builds of the application were able to access video calling through an updated app interface.
For those on a version of WhatsApp which includes video calling support, you’re able to tap the call button or tap on a contact card to kick off a video call. In this case, a new dialog box will appear, offering the choice between a standard voice call and a video call. In addition, the call log will show which calls were made via video by annotating them with the camera icon, instead of the telephone icon.

'Video calls are becoming available seemingly at random. You won't need an app update as long as you're on one of the recent beta versions,' the site said.
Those using the standard version of the app, rather than the Android developer version may still have to wait a while before they can make video calls.

For those who don't have the updated app, they'll just receive a voice call for now.
Tapping the call button or contact will fire up box with both voice and video options, reports Android Police.
The update means that WhatsApp is on its way to joining the range of major messaging services that offer video calling, including Microsoft's Skype Google'e new Duo app.
While WhatsApp video calling is available for every yet, it appears to work for those who have installed version 2.16.318, reports AndroidPolice.

While the function is currently limited to Android, it's likely that it will be available on iOS once WhatsApp has finished testing it.

terminal key

Android Phones are built on Linux kernel. So, running the Linux commands is not a big task. But the problem with it is we need a terminal to run the commands which is not provided in the pre-installed applications.

One way to use the bash shell is to root your android phone and to install a normal terminal with root permissions and run the required commands. But rooting is not recommended as your phone warranty becomes void and also some buggy stock ROMs may leave your phone in a vulnerable state.

Another way is to emulate the Linux commands without rooting the Android phone. This is the best possible way which I suggest and you can uninstall the terminal when ever you wish and easily install it back. You just need to have enough internal memory to install the app. This terminal cannot be moved into the memory card as you do with other apps.

Terminal IDE for Android

As you already know the emulator is an application or a software that behaves to be as another application but its actually not. It makes the environment to be in such a way to feel like as if we are using the terminal with root permissions.

This application is not built for android mobiles with smaller internal memory. It requires nearly 13Mb of space on your phone and cannot be moved on to a external storage as you cannot get a execute permissions on the ext-sdcard.

Terminal IDE comes with full support to run Java, C, Python and most of the bash commands along with VIM editor, Stream editor.

Pros:

GCC 4.4.0, vim 7.3, nano 2.2.6,make 3.82, ctags, javac, java, dx, proguard, aapt,  TMUX 1.5, apkbuilder, signer, ssh, sshd, telnetd, bash 4.2, busybox 1.19.2, midnight commander 4.8, htop 1.0,, links 2.7,BitchX 1.1, rsync 3.0.8, git 1.7.8,  and a nice terminal emulator.

And the best thing is all app runs WITHOUT needing any ROOT permissions.
It's all available with normal user permissions.

Cons:

  • Requires 2.3.3 and up version of android phone.
  • Currently Android Lollipop is not supported.

You can download it from the play store. Click the below url to go to the playstore app of Terminal IDE.

We know the next big thing in mobile technology is 5Gnetwork in which Nokia is already working on alongside At &T. But for now, let us rock 4G LTE whose m0bile data standard is 5 times faster than 3G and twice as fast at 3G+. That means the experience of using your smartphone will seem like your phone is faster than you.
One of the most annoying thing some of you might likely face is to think that your smartphone is 4G supported only to discover that it is 100% 3GMobile phone.

How Do I know That My Mobile is 4G Supported?
With 4G mobile networks in mind, it’s easy to know if your smartphone supports the standard. On Android smartphones, Blackberry, iPhones and Windows mobile devices.

Android
For Android Users, go to settings >> Network settings >> mobile network. It should give you a dropdown menu of mobile standards such as 2G, 3G or LTE (4G). If you don’t see 4G or LTE, then your smartphone doesn’t support the standard.
iPhone
On the iPhone, go to Settings > General > cellular > Enable 4G LTE.

Windows
On Windows Phone, go to Settings > Celluar + Sim > Highest connection speed and check if LTE is part of the options.

Blackberry
Go to settings>>Network and Connection>>Mobile Network>> Network mode and you’ll see 4G&3G&2G. however, if you are using Blackberry Q5 and below, you won’t get 4G network services.

Once you’ve selected LTE and you’ve on a 4G network, the “LTE” symbol will appear on the phone status bar replacing either “3G”, “H” or “2G” symbols.
